new online class-the art of abstraction and a giveaway!

Untitled-1

When I got to college and decided to major in art I was more than ready to explore new ways to get creative. I had spent many years feeling pressure to make art that looked pretty and perfect and was anxious to learn different methods and techniques that could set me free and release that "pressure" to be perfect. During my college experience, I found myself gravitating towards projects and classes that had more to do with abstraction and expression and less to do with realism and perfection. And once I got the taste of how drawing and painting felt when it was expressive, emotional, wild, free, and came from your gut- I was hooked! While these methods were just a few (of many) in my arts education, they seemed to be the ones that really stuck and ended up creating a foundation for my creative process and my art.

Untitled-2

These days, while I love making beautiful and refined art and crafts, I also find myself returning to abstraction when I need to just let go and be free. Using methods and techniques that are expressive and abstract has enabled me to understand how to use my experiences and my emotions to make art. This process has helped me loosen up and let go of perfection in all of the art that I make. In my next online class, I am thrilled to share this process with you!

2
The Art of Abstraction will introduce you to the concept of making abstract and expressive art. I will share a variety of methods, techniques and prompts that will inspire you to find your voice and your unique style. I will challenge you to a new way of seeing and teach you fresh ways to make art with all kinds of alternative tools and methods. We will throw images, perfection, pressure and creative trends out the window and instead- make art with our emotions and with our gut! We will channel our individual experiences and STOP over thinking the creative process.

Join me for the Art of Abstraction!

Mood today: gray. I've actually had a headache for two days straight, so I kind of feel like I'm trapped in a sludgy, slow mood. Not very exciting, I know. :)

  63. I studied art in college, until changing my major. I don't regret the decision, because it was what I needed at the time. But over four years have passed since then, and I had virtually stopped doing art completely. It's something I've really missed in my life, but have been too "busy" and just not in a creative mode. Then this last week I discovered your blog, and it has triggered my creative drive and passion for art once again. I just wanted to say thanks for that. I signed up for one of your classes already, and am so looking forward to doing more in the future!

My mood today is orange, because I'm feeling so motivated and energized to be creative and artistic. A good feeling!

Today..? Feeling white:) In Denamrk, it's monday morning, which means a new day and a new blank slate. Starting new things in my local town and a strong creative feeling, requires a blank canvas to start from; letting creativity blossom.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Today I had the most wonderful painting experience. I ALMOST threw out the painting SEVERAL times - no exagg! It just was a bomb, over and over again. But like life, the layers did something magical, and delivered a background so wonderful, I am not at all sure how to proceed. I may not. But the color it left me was a deep turquoise with a rustic accent running through. All the best to you and the class ahead.

    ReplyDelete

My day has two colors : red for passion and sparks, making art with my kids, taking pictures and making a layout... and black for the practical side of my mind, cooking and getting ready for work; figuring how to fit in what I need to get done, so I have more time for the red side of me :)

    ReplyDelete

I'm feeling ice-blue today. I'm bit sad because my son left the nest and the weather fits my mood, cold, icy and stormy. But now i have seen your class the ice in the blue is melting ...

    ReplyDelete
  146. Blue, but not because I'm feeling sad. I've never really thought of blue as a melancholy color... For me blue represents happiness - like the bright, beautiful sky that is currently outside my window :)

Thank you for the opportunity to win a spot - I could definitely use a refresher in loosening up and letting go!

  163. It's wonderful to hear about your art education and how you came to love abstraction. I am still in the learning stages, so I have been focusing on making my images look real. But we just finished a big abstract project in my color theory class, and now I have a new appreciation and a new love.

Today my mood is represented by green because of all the wonderful things coming back to life in our gardens, and because I'm feeling hopeful.

If my feelings could be represented in a colour today, I would be a deep blue (I found out a few weeks ago that I was having a miscarriage... and over time I felt better - but this past weekend I found I am still pregnant with a non-viable pregnancy)

Hopefully later, I will be orange :) I havea few girlfriend coming over for dinner tonight,a nd we are having tacos. We always have lots of fun when we get together, I am in need of a girls night
